Hi there,

My name is Carrie Camp, and I have the incredible privilege of being a mom to an amazing daughter. A daughter who is kind, confident, and strong. A daughter who is a proud and accomplished Special Olympics Minnesota athlete. 

My daughter Mia was adopted in 2000 from Seoul, South Korea when she was six months old. At three years of age, she was diagnosed with developmental delays. She did not talk in full sentences until she was four years old. Her fine and gross motor skills were improved with years of occupational and physical therapy, and speech delays were improved with years of speech therapy. Thus began the wondrous journey we call our life.

When we found Special Olympics in 2008, it changed Mia’s life forever (and mine). She finally found a spot to be her best self. I’ll never forget when she made her first basket after 3 years of practicing. Now, Mia and her teammates are making history as Team Minnesota’s first-ever all-female half-court basketball team to attend the USA Games! 

I’m just bursting with pride for all Mia has accomplished, and this Mother’s Day, I want to ask a favor from you. Will you join me in wishing Mia and her teammates good luck at the USA Games next month? They are training so hard and it would mean the world to me, as a mother, to show them how many people they have cheering them on.
