I’m Harriet, and I’m so proud to say that I am Michele’s mother.

From the moment she was born, I knew Michele’s life was going to be an exceptional one, and wow has she lived up to that.

State representative. Public defender. Civil rights lawyer. A proud queer Black woman. And now she’s running for Congress.

Today being Mother’s Day I wanted to help out the campaign and tell you a bit about my daughter. Before I dive in, I have to ask: Will you chip in $3 to Michele’s campaign today? Her team tells me they need to raise $2,000 this week to stay competitive: [[link removed]]

Like Michele, I’m no stranger to being the first in your field – and the resolve it takes to break barriers for those after you.

My husband and I were among the first Black students to attend the University of South Florida in the early 1960s, and I went on to become one of the first Black social workers in St. Petersburg.

We instilled the value of community service to Michele from a young age. My husband always told her “Help others. Do the right thing. And most importantly always keep your head up high.” And I’m so impressed with how much she has done for the people of Florida, John.

Michele’s going all in for the people of Pinellas County, John. Not the powerful, not the big corporations, but the people just like you and me. I know she can deliver real results for the people of Florida, not the same old band-aid solutions that barely get us by. » [[link removed]]
