Today, I want to talk about the woman who is my biggest inspiration and supporter – my mom, Maria.

My mom is the epitome of a strong, hard-working, independent woman, and I am who I am today because of how she raised me.

My mom never let obstacles get in the way of pursuing her dreams. She washed dishes to put herself through college, and later on in life, she became an executive for one of Michigan’s top ad agencies (while raising me!)

She’s one of the biggest reasons I felt comfortable running for office in the first place.

No one in my family was supposed to go to Congress, friend, but because of my mom’s support I felt confident enough to put everything on the line to run against the far-right agenda and flip MI-11 blue.

She’s attended several of my campaign events, volunteered her time to knock on doors and meet voters, and has been my biggest cheerleader since day one of my campaign.

Happy Mother’s Day to my mom and all of the moms in MI-11 doing one of the hardest jobs out there. I appreciate all that you do.
