What we need to do to protect our climate for my daughter and her generation.
Friend, it’s Kris Mayes, Democratic nominee for Arizona Attorney General.
As a mother, a daughter, and an Arizonan who was raised on a tree farm outside of Prescott, this Mother’s Day I’m thinking about the work we’ll have to do to protect the next generation.
As a Senior Sustainability Scientist at ASU’s School of Global Sustainability and an energy law professor, I consider myself an expert on all things climate (and all things Arizona).
And as a climate expert, here’s one thing I know for sure: It’s going to take all of us to build a sustainable future. And while I’ve only been a mother for a few years, I’ve been a climate leader for decades. I’m ready to bring my lifetime of service to Arizona and our planet with me to the Arizona AG’s office. I’m also ready to become the first mom to be elected AG for the state of Arizona.
I’m a big believer in staying true to your word and delivering on your promises. Arizona deserves an AG who doesn't just talk about protecting our natural resources and environment, but has actually come through with meaningful results for our state.
As Arizona’s Corporation Commissioner, I led a team that created tens of thousands of high-paying jobs, saved Arizona consumers tens of billions of dollars, and fought climate change by requiring utilities to produce more clean energy - and prioritize energy efficiency.
I’m working to build a better world not just for my daughter, but for the next generation of Arizonans.
