Hi Friend,

I just wanted to take a moment to wish everyone—especially mothers out
there—a happy Mother's Day.

As a substitute school teacher and a first-generation immigrant, my mother
taught me the importance of pursuing an education and working hard to
achieve meaningful goals. She inspired me to cultivate the next generation
of change-makers as a Lecturer in the Department of Economics at Stanford
University and an Adjunct Professor at Santa Clara Law School before
running for Congress. Her strength, kindness, and unconditional love
helped me become who I am today. And frankly, it’s something I didn’t
understand until I had children of my own.

While the state of our nation is constantly changing, I’d like to think
that the values my mother instilled in me are timeless. I fight for a
Green New Deal, affordable and quality education, Medicare for All, and
support for America’s hardworking families not simply because they are
prudent, but because we all deserve to live with dignity. That’s what my
mother taught me.

To all the mothers and mother figures, thank you for all that you do.

– Ro
