Today, I’m attending a special event to honor Hawaii’s healthcare heroes.
I will celebrate Member Appreciation Day with the Hawaii Nurses Association at Ala Moana Park. I am excited to join over 200 of our healthcare heroes and their families to honor and thank Hawaii’s nurses, and express my gratitude for all their hard work and the sacrifices they made caring for us during the pandemic.
Also today, I am being recognized along with State Director of Health Dr. Libby Char as Physician of the Year by the Hawaii Medical Association for leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic.
I am extremely humbled by this honor and I will accept it on behalf of the thousands of nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals who have done so much for the people of Hawaii over the last two years. As HMA President Dr. Angela Pratt said, “…Hawaii’s healthcare community came together to vaccinate over 1 million people, protect our kupuna, and save thousands of lives. We are grateful…"
Without our healthcare heroes, our state wouldn’t have gotten through the pandemic with the lowest infection rate in the country.
And without your help and support, our campaign to bring trusted, caring leadership to Hawaii wouldn’t be where it is today.
