December 6: The Youth are Striking and We're Joining Them
On December 6 from 12-3 pm, students from high-schools across New York City will be gathering at City Hall Park to demand action from the elected officials to DO SOMETHING about the climate crisis. The demonstration will encircle City Hall and end with a rally at Foley Square. The youth are focusing on the element of FIRE. Wear red, orange, yellow, and black if you can.

On December 11, NY Renews is leading visits to elected officials in their districts across New York State to say: we need $1 billion for climate, jobs, and justice in this year’s budget. This money will serve as a down payment on what is needed to fulfill the promises made in the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, passed last year. We don’t have time to wait.

Monthly Meeting December 12: Art! Music! Activism!
December 12, 7:30 pm
The Brooklyn Commons, 388 Atlantic Ave
“If I can’t dance, I don’t want to be part of your revolution."
The climate movement needs more than science and statistics. We also need a vision, a soul, and a song. At our December meeting we’ll learn new climate songs, write fresh chants, improvise skits, sketch banners, and maybe even dance a little. Not for artists only: just bring your ideas and imagination. Let’s energize ourselves and our movement with climate arts for the year ahead.
Tell Speaker Johnson to Bring Plastic Straw Bill to a Vote.
The fight to reduce plastic consumption in New York continues. In October, we asked you to call your Council Member to support the Plastic Straw on Request bill (#936) - thank you to all who did! The bill has 26 sponsors! But Speaker Johnson has yet to bring it to a vote. That's why we need you to call the Speaker's office (212-788-7210) and urge him to bring this bill up for a vote. This is an important bill to help NY cut single-use plastic waste.
350Brooklyn takes local action to solve the climate crisis. We are an all-volunteer organization and welcome people of all backgrounds, skills, and availability. Interested in volunteering?
