But he's lost my vote this time around, and I wanted to share why I'm voting for Alexandra Hunt instead. When the news broke on Monday that the Supreme Court is poised to strike down Roe v. Wade, I knew I needed my representative in Congress to be someone who'd fight for all our reproductive rights. I hadn't mailed my ballot yet and now, I wanted my vote to make a statement. So I went to dwightevans.com, Evans' campaign website. I couldn't find a single mention of women, equality, reproductive rights, or even the term healthcare—at least when I checked. Basically, it made me feel like Congressman Evans doesn't believe women matter much... Then I googled Alexandra Hunt and visited her website. Alexandra's been pilloried for being a champion of women's rights, and for publicly talking about her own abortion story, and she's been taking on the conservative right throughout this entire race. Now Alexandra Hunt has my vote: These things matter. As our elected representative, Evans holds a measure of responsibility for failing to protect us from the Supreme Court's change of course. And honestly, it feels like maybe Dwight Evans wasn’t planning on running on women’s issues until it starting trending last week... That's simply not true for Alexandra Hunt and that's why she's earned my vote.
