Team, it has been a trying couple of days since the release of the Supreme Court’s leaked opinion overruling Roe v. Wade.

Earlier this week, I met with protesters at Palm Springs City Hall to listen to their fears and concerns -- and to set the record straight about Rep. Ken Calvert’s record on choice.

For starters, this opinion is a horrifying reminder that many in power will never fully understand what women’s equality and freedom means.

The risk of this draft opinion becoming a final opinion is bad enough, but voters in Riverside County should ask Calvert not only why he believes women don’t deserve the same reproductive freedom as men, but how he plans to pay for tens of thousands of new government-mandated pregnancies if he gets his wish.

Let’s take a look at how dangerous Calvert’s record is on women’s rights:
- He tried to overturn Roe v. Wade
- He believes rapists should be permitted to sue doctors that provide abortion care to victims
- He voted against a bipartisan law that made it illegal to barricade abortion clinics

It’s not only our democracy that is at stake, it’s women’s equality, freedom, and our fundamental right to privacy as Americans.

This November is a crucial election and we need to turn out and stay motivated, because this is just the beginning of what the oppressive right will do if they seize power. Will you chip in $3 make sure anti-choice Republicans like Calvert no longer have a seat in Washington?
