Friend,

This weekend we celebrate mothers and the many strong women and female role models in our lives. Given the recent shameful attacks on our reproductive rights, I acknowledge that this holiday may feel bittersweet, and hard to celebrate.

Like you, I am angry. It terrifies me that my own daughter may soon face a world in which she has less rights than I or my mother had. But we cannot allow ourselves to become frozen with fear, which is why I am proud to be endorsed by organizations that champion the right to abortion care. 

When even Roe v. Wade isn’t safe from conservative intervention, we need in office the perspective of those who know the joys and challenges of being a mother in this country. Because moms are problem solvers who are used to juggling the many facets of motherhood while addressing systemic barriers that men have traditionally never had to face.

This mother's day I am renewing my commitment to protect abortion rights and champion the right for every mother, mother figure, and anyone else who needs abortion care.
