“Having survived this, I know that there’s a lot of work I still have to do. And I plan to do it.”
- Ben Ray Luján, May 5, 2022, The New York Times
Earlier this week, Ben Ray sat down with both Good Morning America and The New York Times to share his experience of having a stroke.
It’s a sobering story — and a timely reminder during National Stroke Awareness Month — about how important early detection of a stroke can be. It saved his life, and now, he’s back stronger than ever and working hard to deliver for New Mexico’s families.
But losing Ben Ray’s voice in the Senate while he recovered also showed how slim our Democratic majorities actually are in Congress. The Democrats hold the Senate with a 50-50 tie, so if Democrats lose one seat this November, everything Ben Ray is fighting for could be completely derailed by Mitch McConnell.
We must protect our Democratic majority this November, period. And as a grassroots-powered campaign, we need your help to fuel our movement.
Ben Ray has a lot of work to do. Please, support our efforts by chipping in to help us keep building on our progress and protect our Democratic majority.

Ben Ray is the kind of fighter we need in the Senate. Thank you for keeping him there.
