Team –
As an actor, I know a powerful story, and a powerful storyteller.
My friend, Lucy McBath, has a powerful story to tell, and she isn’t afraid to tell that story to whoever needs to hear it: The NRA, her Republican colleagues in Congress, or the American people who overwhelmingly support common-sense gun safety reforms.
As you know, Lucy became a “mother on a mission” to end gun violence in America after her son Jordan was tragically shot and killed.
On May 24, Lucy faces a must-win primary election. As a distinguished leader on the frontlines of the fight to end gun violence, Lucy must win this primary and the election in November to continue advocating for Georgians — and all Americans — in Congress. I’m asking today, John: Will you join me in supporting Lucy with a grassroots donation of $10 or any amount, so she can win her primary election this month?

The day I became a gun safety activist was December 14, 2012, a day forever ingrained in my mind — the day of the Sandy Hook School shooting. I spent that day carefully shielding my then 10-year-old daughter from that horrific news when she shocked me by asking “Mommy, did a bunch of little kids get shot today?”. It was then that I realized that I was not keeping her or her brother safe from gun violence unless I became involved myself in the fight for common-sense gun laws.
By February 14, 2018 — the day of the Parkland shooting — my then 15-year-old daughter had joined me as an activist, and she was as angry as I was that our politicians had done nothing to prevent yet another tragedy.
When I heard Lucy’s story about losing her son Jordan to a senseless, horrific act of gun violence, I was immediately struck by the gravity of her deep determination to enact meaningful, life-saving gun safety policy.
Why do I care about supporting a leader like Lucy McBath, and why should you continue to support her? Because our gun safety fight is quite literally about life and death.
As a mother, the fight to prevent gun violence is about my two children — and all of our children. It’s about Lucy’s son, Jordan. It’s about the thousands of Americans who have lost their lives to gun violence. It’s about the families who have lost children, parents, and loved ones to this senseless epidemic.
We need a leader like Lucy fighting for change, who is courageously telling her story to inspire empathy and compassion, and bring about change. She’s already made a huge impact in Congress — and we need to keep her there. So, John, will you make a donation right now to help Lucy win the primary on May 24th and keep her in Congress leading our fight to end gun violence?
