Josh Stein for Attorney General

Folks,

The draft majority opinion on Roe v. Wade would undo fifty years of legal precedent and could have grave ramifications for North Carolina.

But our first line of defense is preserving the governor’s veto by keeping the state legislature out of the NC GOP’s hands.

If Roe falls, our Republican opponents have pledged to attack abortion rights — including Lt. Governor Mark Robinson, who recently said if abortion was left up to the states, “it would be a cause for work, not celebration.”

Extremists like Robinson believe that when a woman becomes pregnant, her body is no longer hers to control. And if Republicans win a veto-proof supermajority in the state legislature this year, nothing would stop them from passing a Texas-style abortion ban here in North Carolina.

With reproductive freedom at stake, we must work together to elect Democratic candidates who will defend a woman’s right to choose now and in the future.

If we're going to help Democrats win in November and in elections to come, it's going to take an unprecedented grassroots effort. And we can't pull it off without you, team. Can you chip in today to join the fight?

Team,

For nearly 50 years, the U.S. Supreme Court has recognized a woman's constitutional right to an abortion.

But late last night, a draft Supreme Court opinion leaked, revealing that the Court has reportedly decided to overturn Roe v. Wade, which would end the longstanding precedent protecting women’s reproductive freedom.

If true, this decision will leave abortion access up to the states.

We must redouble our efforts to elect pro-choice officials up and down the ballot. Early voting in this spring’s primary elections has already begun, and it’s never been more important that we elect leaders who will defend access to reproductive care — in November and beyond.

Team, can you chip in today to support me in the fight to defend reproductive rights?

This fight is not over, team. Women — not the government — should have the power to make their own reproductive health care decisions. Let’s work to make sure that women retain that power.

Thanks for everything,

Josh Stein
