This week, the nation paused to acknowledge the critical role which educators play in our society. Educators are committed to improving the lives of all people. Educators beat the drum of change and progress. Educators are investing in the future. Educators are lighting a lamp and promoting a sense of integrity and hard work in order for our children to perform at the highest levels. Educators create paths of opportunity. Educators impart knowledge to multiple generations. Educators are molding the nation and pushing us to reflect the best of our values.
If given the opportunity to be your next congresswoman from Arkansas' Second District (AR-02), we will sponsor and co-sponsor legislation and collaborate in a bipartisan fashion to:
-Continually support and fund of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), the “nation’s education policy”
-Create a national base salary of $40,000 for all prekindergarten through twelfth grade educators
-Promote the continuance of the public service loan forgiveness program
-Increase funding for Race to the Top (RTTT) recipients
-Further universal prekindergarten at age three (3)
-Grant teachers tenure or permanence after two (2) years of service
-Increase PELL Grant funding
-Provide institutions financial resource to offer PELL Grant year-round
-Increase funding to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs)
We would like to thank educators throughout the country for all that you do to love, lift, and lead the next generation. Thank you for investing in our daughters and sons and putting their dreams in closer reach daily.
In solidarity and a fellow educator,
Quintessa Hathaway, Ed.D.
