** UPDATED: ADHRB Welcomes House and Senate Votes to Block Arms Sales to Saudi Arabia and the UAE

***On 17 July 2019, the House passed three resolutions already passed by Senate, in an attempt to block arms sales to Saudi Arabia and the UAE. S.J.Res 36 passed 238-190 ([link removed]) , S.J.Res 37 passed 238-190 ([link removed]) , and S.J.Res 38 passed 237-190 ([link removed]) . The resolutions will now go to President Trump, who will likely issue a veto.

Jawad Redha AlTarifi is a 27-year-old Bahraini citizen. Since his arbitrary arrest and detention in 2017, the Bahraini authorities have subjected him to torture, mistreated him on the basis of his religion, and convicted him in an unfair trial. He is currently in Jau Prison.
