Dear Friends,

As we wrap up our celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week 2022, I wanted to share how wonderful it was to see so many of you participating in the chat last night during our powerhouse panel of public education champions, including Connecticut Congresswoman Jahana Hayes, the 2016 National Teacher of the Year, NEA President Becky Pringle, and AFT President Randi Weingarten.

In their stories, in their words of gratitude and inspiration, and in their advocacy for our educators and our nation’s children, we see that public education is truly the cornerstone of our Democracy and that our teachers are essential to it.

We are grateful for our educators and support them in our words and deeds, including in the historic pandemic relief package that Democrats delivered – without one Republican vote – that gave state and local the resources to get America’s children learning and parents earning again by keeping educators on the job, with higher pay in many instances; made vaccines accessible, and that made it possible for our school buildings to reopen safely.

Our educators have so much concern for our children and grandchildren. Through the stories that educators shared and that our volunteers in politics, our VIPs, shared, we saw more examples of the difference that teachers make in our lives. Many of you asked about how we can thank teachers meaningfully and help them during this time of heightened challenge and stress for them and their students.

Under the American Rescue Plan, Democrats delivered an historic investment in public education. And not a single Republican voted for it.

Democrats are continuing to deliver for working families, For The Children, and for our teachers and public schools. As Congresswoman Jahana Hayes said last night, our House Democratic Caucus is the Congress that she had been waiting for and dreaming of before she ran. House Democrats will continue to champion public education and deliver the resources and community partnership we need to address the mental wellness needs of students and educators that President Pringle and President Weingarten highlighted.

If you missed our conversation last night, I hope you watch it and take the opportunity to do as we did and Thank A Teacher!

As always, thank you for your support.
