Statement on the Draft Supreme Court Decision to Overturn Roe v. Wade

Dear John,

Roe v. Wade has been the compromise decision on women’s reproductive rights that has stood for almost 50 years. This week's Alito draft takes the extreme position that women have no such privacy rights at all, under any circumstance. That’s a jarring departure from settled law that would open the floodgates to unrestrained government interference in the private lives of American citizens. The Court must not adopt this opinion overturning past precedent, and Congress, in the meantime, must keep working to expand women’s access to health care and family planning services and reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies.

This week, I joined Keystone Research Center, the 99% Pennsylvania Campaign, ReImagine Appalachia, Building Back Together, and Action Together Northeastern PA for a press conference highlighting the broadband expansion coming to Pennsylvania. The funding is coming through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. 

This funding is a critical investment to ensure that all individuals, regardless of their circumstances, have access to the internet and the tools they need to succeed.
