What an inspiring event on Wednesday! Gov. Tim Walz opened the rally noting how it is incumbent on all of us to take action: “It is going to be our grandchildren and great grandchildren that are going to ask, what did you do when totalitarianism came and knocked on our doorstep? And the answer is going to be very clear: ‘Every damn thing I could!’”
A huge thank you to Gov. Walz, and all the national and the state legislators who joined the rally and are leading on democracy reform! We need everyone to step up and do this work because, as Rep. Dean Phillips explained, “Democracy is like a garden: you must plant the seeds, you must water the seeds, you must tend to the garden.”
It was inspiring to hear from Stephen Vitvitsky from Stand with Ukraine MN, who underscored the dangers of authoritarianism and the importance of the worldwide fight for democracy.
So how can you help?
Now it is time for all of us to join together and do this work. And as Rep. Omar so eloquently declared in her closing, “If you are like me, and you are a lover of our democracy, you know that when our democracy is under attack, we stand up and fight back!”
We are sorry if you couldn't be there in person, but you can watch here and share it with others.
Thank you, for everything you are doing for a stronger, more inclusive and representative democracy that works for all Minnesotans!
In solidarity,
Jeanne
