This week is Teacher Appreciation Week, an opportunity to celebrate our educators and the crucial work they do every day. It is difficult work, especially with increasing partisan attacks on your profession, and we are so grateful.

Let me tell you who absolutely does not support our teachers: Iowa Republicans. Here’s a look at how they’ve undermined Iowa educators in just the past few months:

* Governor Kim Reynolds’ historic workforce crisis led to teacher and bus driver shortages.
* Republican Senate President Jake Chapman proposed legislation that would criminally prosecute and even jail teachers.
* Senate Republicans approved a bill that would siphon money away from public schools to fund a handful of private school vouchers.

During this Teacher Appreciation Week, it is more important than ever that Iowa teachers know they have our support. Will you sign now to show that Iowa teachers have massive grassroots support from our communities?
