This week’s Supreme Court news -- a leaked draft opinion showing that the
conservative justices are set on overturning Roe v. Wade -- didn’t come as
a surprise, but it still came as a gut punch to read the depth of the
radical vitriol our highest court plans to enact in their decision.

Right now, abortion is still legal in all 50 states. But the GOP and the
hyper-conservative justices they’ve installed on SCOTUS have laid out
their plan for our future -- and we need to fight back. We must elect more
and better Democrats in the House and Senate. Dems who will fight for
abortion access and all our other most closely-held constitutional rights.

Our next big test is coming up in only a few weeks: Indivisible-endorsed
candidate Jessica Cisneros has a runoff election for Texas’ 28th District
on May 24. She’s running to defeat Henry Cuellar, the only House
“Democrat” to vote against the Women’s Health Protection Act and a staunch
anti-choice, anti-labor, anti-environment conservative who sides with
extremists like Mitch McConnell and Ted Cruz. So it’s extra crucial we

This draft opinion is the culmination of a decades-long Republican plan to
take over the judiciary and use it to roll back rights that generations of
activists have fought for. If we don’t stop them, they won’t stop here --
everything from birth control access to marriage equality and more could
end up on the chopping block next.

The silver lining is that the right has been telegraphing this plan for
years -- which means activists and experts have been preparing for it.
What we need to do now is ensure the GOP doesn’t get back in power and
finish the job come November. That’s where your support will be crucial,
today and every day until the election.
