What’s your ideal Mother’s Day? If you’ve got kids in the house, there’s a pretty good chance it’s either sitting on your couch in sweatpants watching your favorite reality TV alone or several hours out and about with an envelope full of cash. But you’ll likely end up doing a whole lot of stage-managing, instead.
Well today, Samm Burnham Davidson has a manifesto for all the moms who get stuck planning their own BIG DAY: “The trouble with Mother’s Day is that there are too many mothers.” She ends up planning for all of them instead of kicking back for herself. “See, moms don’t get to press pause on the to-do list — on the responsibility of making sure everyone else in their lives feels loved and appreciated — even on their own big day.” It’s too much! And she has a suggestion for what we could do instead. Give it some thought.
And this weekend I wish you nothing but nice weather, three additional hours of sleep, and, yes, a couple of adorable homemade cards.
