Gun violence is an out-of-control epidemic in South Carolina.

Gun violence is an out-of-control epidemic in South Carolina.

The statistics speak for themselves: since 2010, gun deaths have increased by 42% in South Carolina, guns are the leading cause of death among children and teens in our state, and between 2015 and 2019, 120 South Carolina women were fatally shot by an intimate partner.

Disappointingly, McMaster has failed to do anything to curb the gun violence epidemic in our state. He refuses to prioritize and pass common-sense gun reforms that would save lives by requiring background checks before sales of guns, keeping guns out of the hands of those adjudicated incompetent, and requiring liability insurance for gun owners. During my career in the state legislature, I've introduced and co-sponsored bills to do all these things.

McMaster is so afraid to stand up to the NRA that he advocates for dangerous policies like open carry which makes it almost impossible for law enforcement to distinguish between the good guys and the bad. He fought the city of Columbia’s prohibition on ghost guns. And adding to this gun craze, our state is moving forward with execution by firing squad. (no, this is not a joke)

South Carolinians need an advocate who will stand up for common-sense gun legislation and protect our most vulnerable – that fighter is me.

Thank you for standing with me,
