Giving Thanks to 2019’s Outstanding Nonprofit Advocates

Twitter to Hit Muffle on Advocacy Ads and 501(c)(4)s

In response to larger criticism leveled against social media companies taking foreign money for paid advertisements that influence American elections, Twitter announced a major change to its advertising policy that overcorrects so substantially that it outright bans many environmental, public health, and civil rights organizations from being able to target their messages. A Victory for Nonprofit Volunteers

The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals recently struck down a Missouri Ethics Commission decision that imposed the same registration and filing requirements on an unpaid volunteer for a small nonprofit as the largest corporate lobbyists in the state This ruling is a victory for nonprofits that rely on volunteers in their efforts to advocate for social change. Click here to read more.

Webinars cover our most frequently requested topics. They’re presented by one of AFJ’s attorney-coaches and last approximately 1 hour. You may register online. Workshop registration is $35 per attendee and free for current AFJ members.

Lobbying 201: Recordkeeping and Reporting for 501(c)(3) Organizations that Lobby in Texas
