Dear John,
Here at Family Research Council, we recognize the importance of family and the God-given call to create and establish families. God created us male and female and ordained the roles and responsibilities of husband and wife, and father and mother.
As we celebrate Mother's Day this Sunday, I want to take a moment to honor those of you who are blessed to be a mother. We understand that the days and times we live in bring many trials for parents who seek to raise their children to know and love the Lord. We praise our mothers who, despite these challenges, have dedicated their children to the Lord and are devoted to rearing them according to His ways.
One of the world's greatest treasures is our mothers and we thank the Lord for ordaining the role of mothers and for the impact they have in the Kingdom of God. Today, many people know, love, and serve the Lord because of a mother's prayers and perseverance in the faith.
At an extraordinary time in our nation when the leaked draft of the Dobbs decision this week signals that the end of Roe v. Wade is within our reach, I also want to take a moment to acknowledge that it is our heartfelt prayer to be a beacon of hope, love, and support for all women to choose life, and that we are so grateful for the mothers who have chosen life for their unborn babies.
To our mothers, we wish you a Happy Mother's Day and thank you for taking your God-given role seriously. May the Lord bless you as you continue to influence and guide your children in His ways.
If Mother's Day is difficult for you this year due to the loss of your loved one, strained relationships, or your dream of being a mother has yet to come to pass--know that our prayers are with you. May the Lord grant your heart's desires and fulfill all His plans for your life. And may we all reach out to those women who have profoundly impacted our lives and extend the love, appreciation, and support they are so deeply worthy of.
As Proverbs 31 declares, "Many women have done excellently" but a woman who fears the Lord "surpass[es] them all" and "is to be praised" (Proverbs 31:29-30).
