John — this is Eddie Geller reaching out with a really important note.

The attacks on the trans community are disgusting — full stop. While the Republican party, including my opponent Jackie Toledo, uses trans folks as a scapegoat, the LGBTQ+ community suffers as a result.

These attacks have devastating real-world consequences. According to a recent study, “52% of all transgender and nonbinary young people in the U.S. seriously contemplated killing themselves in 2020.” Over half of respondents thought “it would be better to be dead” rather than live with being “targeted by politicians and activists pushing anti-trans legislation.”

These statistics are horrible, John, and show the terrible impact conservative anti-trans policy has.

Rather than reconsider their harmful tactics, the GOP has upped the ante. States like Texas, Alabama, and Florida recently moved to ban all gender-affirming care for trans youth despite studies showing that access to trans-healthcare is associated with a lower risk of suicidal ideation and attempts.

Lives are literally on the line, John. That’s why this election is so important. The queer community needs allies in Washington D.C. — not far-right MAGA politicians who use trans folks as a punching bag to win votes.

Unlike my opponent (who voted for FL’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill), I’m committed to doing everything we can to protect the trans community, starting with passing the Equality Act.

We must stand up for our trans brothers and sisters. Please, can you chip in right now to help protect the trans community from these disgusting attacks, John?
