We all remember where we were as we watched a violent mob storming the Capitol on January 6, 2021. It was broadcast on every major news network. We sat glued to our TV screens, shocked. The news media is the number one way we get correct information -- just as we found out the shocking news this week that SCOTUS is attempting to overrule Roe v. Wade.
It was frightening to imagine what that meant for our country as the chaos unfolded. It’s even more frightening now, thinking about my opponent participating directly in those horrific events and now running for Congress.
The House Select Committee is holding a series of public hearings about its findings in June. We are asking those same networks to broadcast the hearings, just as they did on January 6.
Democracy is about showing up. Let’s make sure that broadcast television networks like ABC, CBS, and NBC show up and air the January 6 hearings in the House live and in prime time. →
It’s crucial to bear witness to historical moments like these in a time when disinformation runs rampant. This is about defending American democracy from attacks within – it’s about standing up to the anti-democratic bad actors like my opponent.
The January 6 uprising was an attack on who we are as Americans. People like my opponent are happy to silence the truth of January 6 – so please help us defend our values and urge all of the major news networks to air the hearings live and in prime time.
Thanks for standing with us,
Brad Pfaff
