Hi folks,
This week’s news out of the Supreme Court is nothing short of heartbreaking — and like many of you, I’m furious. Republicans have been fighting to strip people of their reproductive rights for decades — well, really since the Court handed down their landmark decision in Roe v. Wade almost 50 years ago. And now, they’re on the brink of doing so.
Not only is Justice Alito’s draft majority opinion deeply flawed, it would have a disastrous impact on millions of Americans. Extreme legislation severely restricting or outright banning abortions would go into effect in Republican-held states across the nation.
As we take the time to process this news and the sadness, anger, and grief that comes along with it, we must also strengthen our resolve to fight back.
Last summer, I signed on as a co-sponsor to the Women’s Health Protection Act — legislation to finally codify Roe v. Wade into federal law and protect access to abortion, no matter what the Supreme Court decides. The House has already passed this critical bill, and now, I’m calling on my colleagues in the Senate to do the same.
Will you join me in putting pressure on the Senate to pass this critical legislation and protect reproductive rights across the nation? Sign your name on our petition demanding the Senate pass the Women’s Health Protection Act >>
Today and every day, I’m committed to fighting for reproductive freedom. Thanks for joining me.
