Roe v. Wade seems poised to be placed on the ash heap of history - where it belongs!
As I'm sure you've heard, a leaked internal opinion shows that a majority of Supreme Court Justices are planning to overturn the immoral court decision. I pray this is so!
Last session the legislature passed HB 1280 (of which I was proud to support) which stated that if Roe v. Wade was ever overturned, abortion would be abolished in Texas. That day seems to be quickly approaching.
In addition to supporting House Bill 1280 and the Heartbeat Bill, I have also carried amendments to increase funding to our Alternatives to Abortion program over the last several sessions. This is why Texas Right to Life named me a Pro-Life Champion!
This past session, I lead the effort in the Texas House to increase the Alternatives to Abortion program funding up to $100M. Such a blessing! (See the picture below)
Thanks to all my Republican colleagues (who signed on to my amendment) for helping get it passed and into the budget. This is how Texas leads on the pro-life issue!
This program helps mothers with limited means get what they need to carry their precious baby to term. And then, after delivery, the program provides help for the new mom and child. That could be diapers, formula, parenting classes, etc.
If Roe v. Wade is overturned, it will be incredibly important for the state to continue to cultivate a culture of life through programs like Alternatives to Abortion. We must also increase the accessibility to adoption and other alternatives.
This is the time for Texas to lead. We will need true conservative fighters who won't back down from defending the voiceless unborn. Join our campaign, we are only weeks away from the runoff!
If you'd like to volunteer, we have folks out every day knocking on doors, making phone calls, setting up signs, etc. If you would like to help out in the effort, please sign up here.
