This past weekend, I got to celebrate the 75th birthday of my good friend Congressman Bobby Scott.

It was a wonderful day honoring one of the most outstanding and impactful public servants Virginia has ever seen.

And 75 is a big milestone! So I want to keep the celebration going this week by making sure Bobby has the resources to win his race this year.

Congressman Scott needs no introduction. He’s the first African-American representative from the Commonwealth since Reconstruction. He’s the first American of Filipino descent to serve as a voting member of Congress. And he’s the current dean of our Congressional Delegation.

When I was elected in 2008 he was one of the first people I spoke with. I’m a better Senator today because of conversations with him.

And he works so hard for his constituents; trying to make sure they have access to quality and affordable health care, working to reform our criminal justice system, and so much more.

Bobby is up for reelection this year, and we need to keep him in this seat. Every vote will matter in both the House and the Senate.
