DfE consultation launched on early years childcare fees

The Department for Education (DfE) has launched a public consultation seeking views on a proposed increase to the application fee and the annual fee paid to Ofsted by childcare providers on the Early Years Register, with a view to changes coming into force from April 2020.

The DfE is also seeking views on the principles that should underpin a revised Early Years Register fee model to be introduced from April 2021. The consultation is available here [ [link removed] ] and will run for 12 weeks from 18 July to 9 October 2019.

If, for exceptional reasons, you are unable to use the online system, for example because you use specialist accessibility software that is not compatible with the system, you may download a copy of the form from the Gov.UK/DfE Consultations [ [link removed] ] website and email it to [email protected] or post it to:

Early Outcomes Fund

In Nottingham, 67.8% of all children achieve the expected level of development for communication and language and literacy (combined) compared to 72.4% of children nationally. To support us in our work to improve speech, language and communication skills in the early years across the city, we have been awarded Department for Education funding under the Early Outcomes Fund. As part of this work, one of our partners, Better Communication CIC, are surveying support that settings currently receive or commission in relation to speech, language and communication needs.
