Report Examines Racism and Health 

Calls on Bioethics to Lead Change

A new Hastings Center special report calls on the field of bioethics to take the lead in efforts to remedy racial injustice and health inequities in the United States. The report was developed by editors invited by The Hastings Center who worked with an independent task force of scholars to examine racism in health care settings, in health equity research and practice, and in bioethics. Supported by The Greenwall Foundation, the special report is part  of the Center’s health equity initiative. Read the special report.

Advances in implantable medical devices have increased the role for medical device industry representatives in training and support during surgical procedures and follow-up care. But device salespeople working side by side with medical teams undermines “[knowledge-sharing] practices that put the good of the patient first,” states a new article in the Hastings Center Report. Fins Honored for Pioneering Ethical Work
Hastings Fellow, Board  Member Recognized

Joseph J. Fins, a Hastings Center fellow and board member, was elected to the Association of American Physicians, recognized for his pioneering ethical, legal, and policy work related to severe brain injury and disorders of consciousness. Read more.
