Hey John,
I'm Michigan state senator and RFS alum Mallory McMorrow. I'm also a proud mom to a wonderful daughter and a fierce advocate for what I believe in. You might recognize me from this speech I gave a couple of weeks ago:
Since that day I've been interviewed, quoted, retweeted, and the response has been
overwhelming in the most amazing way — but that's not why I did it, or any of this work. I do this work for my district, for my family, and for the people who shaped me into the leader, I am today.
It's not about the hot takes and call-outs, it's about standing up for what's right.
When I ran, I ran to bring decency back to our political system. I saw what the 2016 election did to my community, the way the rhetoric on both sides of the aisle tore people apart. As a problem-solver, I knew I had to do something.
While I had experience in corporate America, as a small business owner, and as an organizer that gave me a unique perspective and approach, I was still a first-time candidate — and that's exactly where Run for Something came in.
Run for Something's endorsement came with so much more than just a statement and a logo to add to our website. I was welcomed into a network of candidates, mentors, volunteers, and folks cheering me on, folks who I could lean on every step of the way.
Run for Something gave me resources and people to call with questions – I can't overstate how incredibly supported I felt as I ran my very first race (against a Republican incumbent) and won.
Run for Something has already endorsed over 300 candidates this year looking to bring their own unique perspective and approach in service of the communities they love. People who know, like me and you, that
hate will only win if people like us stand by and let it happen.
We aren't letting it happen. Chip in

As I said in my speech, my mother taught me the value of real service to my community and those in need over performative nonsense.
This moment calls for real service to marginalized communities, to communities historically underrepresented, and to communities who've been unheard. I'm doing my best to stand up for what I know is right here in Michigan, but there are
hundreds of thousands of offices all around the country that could use someone who cares.
Run for Something is working on just that — helping young diverse progressive candidates help fill those offices at the state level, at the county level, at the local level, and in the courts with people who care.

to help elect these diverse young progressives to office and recruit even more for the next election (and the one after that!). Because #HateWontWin, but it also won't go down without a fight.
Thank you, for standing by me, and for believing that we can make a better tomorrow.
