How to Battle Biden’s Regulatory Leviathan and Win
(Even on LGBT Issues)
Roger Severino
National Review Online

It seems like every other week, a new gender-identity announcement has come out of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). See here ([link removed]) , here ([link removed]) , here ([link removed]) , here ([link removed]) , here ([link removed]) , here
([link removed]) , here ([link removed]) , and here ([link removed]) . This flood was expected after President Biden appointed a leftist, Xavier Becerra, as HHS Secretary and transgender-activist par excellence, Dr. Rachel (formerly Richard) Levine, as Assistant Secretary of Health. But a funny thing happened on the way to transforming HHS into the Department of Health and Gender Services. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), an HHS sub-agency, just abandoned its plans to force millions of people to pay for other people’s transgender treatments by declaring them “essential health benefits” under proposed Obamacare insurance regulations. You may be
wondering how this surprising about face came to pass. It was because a dedicated coalition of advocates discovered this radical proposal to transform health care and used nothing but their knowledge and voices to block it.

Here’s how we did it.

EPPC Scholars Advocate Against Gender Ideology, Government “Misinformation”

This week, EPPC’s Mary Rice Hasson and Rachel N. Morrison met with federal government officials to discuss concerns over a proposal by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (VA) to remove the current exclusion for “gender alterations” from its medical benefits package. EPPC scholars objected to the VA’s characterization that such care is “medically necessary” and that it is “consistent with medical industry standards.” ** Read More ([link removed])

Also this week, EPPC’s David Gortler and Rachel N. Morrison submitted comment in response to a request for information by the Department of Health and Human Services on the impact and prevalence of “health misinformation” during the COVID-19 pandemic. The EPPC scholars’ comment details numerous ways that federal government agencies and officials—including the Centers for Disease Control, Food and Drug Administration, the White House, and Dr. Anthony Fauci—were purveyors of COVID-19 misinformation, leading to distrust in the government and health care systems and providers, and curtailing the ability of medical professionals to provide quality and lifesaving care to their patients. ** Read More ([link removed])
