Left-Wing Group Planning Protests Outside the Homes of SCOTUS Justices

From the story: An apparent left-wing group is threatening to protest at the homes of the six conservative Supreme Court Justices on Wednesday. On the web, the group also posted what it claimed to be the street names and cities and states of Justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett, and John Roberts (Todd Starnes). Carrie Severino: The website notes that “stipends [are] available” for protestors. Who exactly is paying for these stipends? More pointedly, who is funding the threat against Supreme Court justices (Twitter)? Spencer Brown: But who is standing up this organization or funding its stipends and other activities — and what are the group’s intentions when it comes to “large-scale” efforts to protest the Supreme Court? As Severino explains, the Ruth Sent Us website “links to a different organization, ‘Strike for Choice,’ which shows connections to groups including Black Lives Matter, Code Pink, Women’s March SF, Kavanaugh Off Our Court, and Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights” (Townhall). Senator John Cornyn: After this week’s SCOTUS leak, a focus has been placed on the security of the Justice’s families who could face threats to their safety. I introduced a bill to ensure Justices and their families are protected from those who seek to harm them (Twitter).

Gavin Newsom Says Men Cannot Get Pregnant, Gets Mocked by Republicans

Leah Barkoukis: In sharing a clip of him speaking out against the leaked draft opinion showing the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, Newsom declared: “If men could get pregnant, this wouldn’t even be a conversation. This decision isn’t about strengthening families — it’s about extremism. It’s about control. We will fight for the right to choose.” Conservatives — confused, given that progressives have been telling us otherwise lately — had quite a few responses (Townhall). Sebastian Gorka: Governor Transphobe (Twitter). Fox News: Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, wrote, “Then how do you explain THIS,” with an arrow pointing towards the new “pregnant man” emoji. The Daily Wire’s Candace Owens asked, “Wait…men can’t get pregnant now?” The commentator included a “pregnant man” emoji in her tweet as well (Fox News). Benjamin Watson: It must be incredibly exhausting to be required to constantly remember which men can and which men can’t get pregnant (Twitter).

Pennsylvania Senate Candidate on Being a Product of Rape: “My Life Has Value”

Kathy Barnette currently sits third in the Real Clear average for Pennsylvania primary on May 17 (Real Clear Politics). Fox News: Pennsylvania Republicans vied to demonstrate their pro-life credentials in a pivotal debate Wednesday, two weeks out from the state’s U.S. Senate GOP primary and two days after an unprecedented Supreme Court leak highlighted the issue of abortion. Kathy Barnette, an Army veteran and author, revealed that she was conceived in rape. “I am the byproduct of a rape,” Barnette declared. “My mother was 11 years old when I was conceived. My father was 21. I was not just a lump of cells. As you can see, I’m still not just a lump of cells. My life has value” (Fox News). Kathy Barnette: I’m the byproduct of rape. My mother was eleven when I was conceived. In the world the Left desires, I would never have been born. We need leaders with a steady hand to direct our nation through these difficult discussions (Twitter).

Does DHS Even Know Who They Appointed as Disinformation Czar?

Seems Mayorkas didn’t do due diligence as he gave a green light to the Ministry of Truth. From the story: Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Wednesday insisted he was unaware that the person his department tapped to head up its Orwellian “Disinformation Governance Board” once called Hunter Biden’s laptop Russian disinformation. Mayorkas, testifying at the Senate Appropriations Committee, was grilled over the hiring of Nina Jankowicz as the DHS’ “disinformation czar” and the board she will run that has been dubbed the “ministry of truth” by its critics (New York Post). Philip Letsou; Mayorkas tells @HawleyMO he doesn’t know if DHS has any records on the Disinformation Governance Board because “the board has not yet met.” But Nina Jankowicz herself says she’s been working on board for “the past two months.” Doing what (Twitter)? Daily Mail: Rand Paul lambasted Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas by claiming he doesn’t want the Biden Cabinet member anywhere near making decisions involving speech. ‘We can’t even agree what disinformation is,’ the Kentucky Republican said to the DHS secretary. ‘I don’t want guardrails. I want you to have nothing to do with speech,’ the senator tore into Mayorkas. ‘You think we can’t determine, you know, speech by traffickers is disinformation.’ ‘Do you think the American people are so stupid they need you to tell them what the truth is?’ Paul questioned. ‘You can’t even admit what the truth is with the Steele Dossier. I don’t trust government to figure out what the truth is. Government is largely disseminating disinformation’ (Daily Mail). Townhall: KENNEDY: “When the department picked (Nina Jankowicz), was the department aware of her Tik Tok videos? They’re really quite precocious.” MAYORKAS: “I was not aware of those videos” (Twitter).

Elon Musk “Comes Out” as Marginally Right of Center; Elite Media Sets Out to Destroy Him

New York Times wants the reader to find Musk somehow guilty for apartheid: Interviews with relatives and former classmates reveal an upbringing in elite, segregated white communities that were littered with anti-Black government propaganda, and detached from the atrocities that white political leaders inflicted on the Black majority (New York Times). The New York Post picked up on the story: Times correspondents John Eligon and Lynsey Chutel reported that Musk benefited from an “upbringing in elite, segregated white communities” in suburban Johannesburg, “where black people were rarely seen other than in service of white families living in palatial homes.” The Times story surmised that Musk’s being “insulated from the harsh reality” of the system of apartheid may dull his sensitivity to racist hate speech that could be allowed to flourish on Twitter should he take over and institute his desired changes (New York Post). Saagar Enjeti: In this article NYT itself reports @elonmusk 1. Had non-white friends growing up in apartheid SA 2. His own father was an ANTI-APARTHEID politician 3. He literally left so he didn’t have to serve in apartheid military. They still insinuate he is a racist (Twitter). Ed Morrissey: Musk rebuked a fellow student for using an “anti-Black slur,” and got bullied for it (paragraph 27), and later was one of only a handful of white people at the funeral of a black student (paragraph 28) (HotAir). John Sexton: The framing and tone of this story is ‘white supremacy is his life story’ but the actual content is ‘teen Musk rejected racism’ (Twitter).

FTC Looking Into Musk’s Purchase of Twitter

From the story: The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is reviewing Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s $44 billion deal with Twitter, setting up a deadline for a possible antitrust review, according to a Thursday report. A person familiar with the matter told Bloomberg the agency will decide next month whether to do an in-depth antitrust probe of the Twitter deal — a move that could delay its closing by months (Fox Business). Daily Wire: The deal is not expected to be blocked, but critics have claimed the new purchase will give Musk too much control over free speech (Daily Wire).

Canada Opening Border to Americans Who Want Abortions

CBS: The recent leak of the Supreme Court’s draft opinion that states the court’s intention to overturn Roe v. Wade has fueled outrage among advocates for abortion access, with many wondering where they will be able to go should they need the health care service. On Tuesday, a Canadian official said her country will be open.  Karina Gould, minister of families, children and social development in Canada, told CBC News Network, “I don’t see why we would not,” when asked whether Americans would be allowed to get abortions in the country. “If they, people, come here and need access, certainly, you know, that’s a service that would be provided,” she said, later adding, “25 million unsafe abortions happen every single year. Criminalizing abortion doesn’t mean that those abortions won’t happen. What it means is that they will be unsafe abortions” (CBS).
