As many as 18,000 migrants could cross our southern border daily.
Friend,
🚨🚨Breaking News 🚨 🚨
Grilled on Sunday shows, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said his department is "ready for anything" amid concerns that as many as 18,000 migrants could cross our southern border daily once the White House foolishly lifts the Trump-era Title 42 public health rule.
Rolling back Title 42 will increase the strain on federal officials who already are stretched thin trying to contain the crisis at the border. Perhaps more alarmingly, it will lead to an increase in diseases trafficked across our border.
In addition to the ongoing COVID spread, cases of tuberculosis, once controlled in the U.S., are now rising nationwide, especially in border states. Legal immigrants must comply with our laws requiring immunization for various infectious diseases. However, there is no way to enforce these safety and public health laws for those who cross our borders or remain in our country illegally.
While the government shouldn’t mandate vaccination, it certainly has a role to play in preventing the resurgence of deadly contagious diseases and pandemics. Our open southern border poses a real threat to the health of our communities.
This isn’t a political issue. For our national security, it is imperative that we prevent a worsening public health crisis for citizens and migrants alike.
