Did you see Pramila’s email from Tuesday? We didn’t see your name signed on to our petition urging the Senate to end the filibuster and protect abortion rights by passing the Women’s Health Protection Act.
We were devastated by the news of the Supreme Court’s draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade, and we’re ready to fight back. Can you add your name to the petition today?
And please, if you have a couple of minutes, read Pramila’s message below.
In solidarity,

Subject: Outraged and disgusted
As one of the one in four women in this country who have chosen to have an abortion, I am outraged and disgusted by the reported draft SCOTUS opinion overturning Roe v. Wade.
The purpose of our Supreme Court is to uphold freedom and respect precedent — not to take away the fundamental freedom for pregnant people to make choices about their own bodies and futures.
Right now, the Senate can pass an exception to the filibuster and codify Roe v. Wade. NOW is the moment to act, not next month or after the midterms. Will you add your name to our grassroots petition calling on the Senate to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act without delay?
Let’s not forget that Roe v. Wade was a 7-2 decision. The SCOTUS majority who voted to overturn it has no respect for precedent. No respect for pregnant people. No respect for voting rights. No respect for our democratic institutions.
The decision to have an abortion is an intensely personal choice about control of our own bodies. And the consequences of that choice are ones that only WE will have to live with — SCOTUS and Republican state legislatures have no business restricting our choices about our bodies.
I will continue to fight tooth and nail for every single person’s right to have a legal and safe abortion in this country. We will not accept this sitting down, and we WILL take this to the streets and the voting booth.
People are right to be scared by this news, but please remember: this is still a draft opinion, not a ruling. Roe v. Wade is still the law of the land, and abortion is legal here in Washington State. Take care of yourselves and each other.

Pramila
