Lauren Underwood For Congress

Hi John, did you see Lauren’s message yesterday?

The right-leaning Supreme Court is poised to overturn Roe v. Wade and wipe out abortion access for folks across the nation. We must stand up and fight back.

Help us put pressure on members of the Senate by adding your name to Lauren’s petition demanding they pass the Women’s Health Protection Act immediately and protect equal access to reproductive care before it’s too late.

John —

For so many of us, the last few days have been rough. Really rough. Monday night, Politico released a leaked draft of Justice Alito’s majority opinion that would officially overturn Roe v. Wade — and it’s completely outrageous.

We’ve known this day might arrive for some time now. Republicans have spent decades attacking reproductive rights with everything they’ve got — from defunding Planned Parenthood to even setting bounties for doctors or rideshare drivers who assist with an abortion. And now, they’re on the brink of achieving their ultimate goal: Overturn Roe v. Wade and wipe out abortion access for people across the nation.

To be frank, John, I’m outraged. This decision would have devastating ramifications for folks across the nation, and would severely roll back the progress toward equality women have made over the last five decades.

As we process this news with anger, sadness, and grief, we must also use this moment to roll up our sleeves and strengthen our resolve to fight back against those who want to strip us of our rights — and I’m more determined than ever.

Last year, I proudly voted to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act in the House — legislation to finally codify Roe v. Wade into federal law and protect equal access to abortion across the nation. And now, I’m calling on members of the Senate to do their jobs and get this legislation on President Biden’s desk.

If you’re with me, add your name to my petition to join me in demanding the Senate pass the Women’s Health Protection Act immediately. We can’t afford to wait any longer.

I’ll never stop working to protect the right to reproductive care — thanks for standing by me in that fight.

In solidarity,

— Lauren
