These last two days have been heavy with the news of the Supreme Court's plans to overturn Roe v. Wade. However, we refuse to sit by and watch the right wing try to deny us our reproductive rights.

While Illinois has firmly established the right to abortion care since 2019, many of our neighboring states will likely outlaw or severely restrict abortion if and when Roe v. Wade is overturned. That's why Mayor Lori Lightfoot is doing everything in her power to make Chicago a safe city for people seeking safe and legal abortion care.

By overturning Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court would turn the clock back nearly 50 years on reproductive freedom... Worse yet, the Court's conservative super-majority could use the same rationale to reverse and restrict other rights, like same-sex marriage.

That means we could very well see LGBTQ+ rights crumble away.

But this isn’t the end of our fight! We must do everything we can to protect the right to safe and legal abortion. And right now, one of the best ways to guarantee every person has the right to choose is to come together and make our collective voices heard.
