John,
The Supreme Court is reeling after a draft opinion that would reverse Roe v. Wade leaked to the public. How this affects the rest of their deliberations is unclear, but they will certainly be keeping their decisions in even stricter confidence – including how they will rule on the supposed right to carry firearms in public.
It is entirely possible that this radical Court sides with the NRA’s bastardized interpretation of the Second Amendment, and it could lead to state’s having absolutely no ability to regulate who can carry loaded weapons in public and lifesaving gun laws around the country could be challenged.
We're waiting for the most consequential Second Amendment decision in a decade – we can’t know the Court’s decision until it’s officially released, but we can prepare for the fight ahead.
That means being ready to defend other critical gun laws across the country and fight to expand and strengthen gun laws currently on the books. The Senate can do that right now if they’d only pass common sense bills like expanded Brady Background Checks and an assault weapons ban. We’re going to be working overtime to amp the pressure up on our lawmakers – because their action is needed now, more than ever.
Will you send an emergency message to your Senators right now and urge them to pass common sense gun violence prevention measures? With groundswell of support, we can stress the urgency of their action in this moment.
