# [#] Dear John,
What really matters in politics is not making grand sounding promises or sending out clever emails. Rather, the real measure of success in politics is getting things done. And I have been getting things done ever since I helped to get funding restored for the ESL Program in East Harlem.
I’m proud to report that recently I had the privilege of attending the presidential bill signing of my urgently needed Postal Service Reform Act at the White House. This piece of legislation was monumental.
The Postal Service is one of America’s most vital and respected institutions, binding our nation together in ways that no other agency or organization can and they played a vital role during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
But for years, financial problems have dogged this vital service. And the confusion and concerns surrounding the issue of late and mail-in ballots in the critical 2020 election made it abundantly clear that the current situation was unsustainable. After decades of inaction, something needed to be done. And that “something” was my bill.
The bill will increase the transparency of postal operations, help ensure that future problems are spotted early and make certain that the Postal Service can continue to serve the American public for generations.
And on top of all that, my bill SAVES the USPS $50 BILLION over the next ten years. What’s not to love?
So — no matter where you live — here’s your chance to save $.58 cents on the cost of a first class stamp and volunteer or contribute money to help me keep on keeping on, making a difference.
