Someone once asked Wilbur Wright what the secret was to his success. His answer? “Choose good parents, and be born in Ohio.”

That couldn’t be more true than right now. 

On Tuesday – thanks to folks like you – we secured the Democratic nomination for Senate. I’m so proud of this team and the movement we’ve built. Together, we’ve been to all 88 counties in Ohio. We’ve heard from teachers, steelworkers, health care professionals, students, and more about how fired up they are to win this race and finally cut workers in on the deal.

But I have to be honest: Now that we’re the official Democratic nominee, the Republican Party will come at us in full force. Ohio is THE race that will determine Senate control and Republicans will throw everything they’ve got to tear us down.

So now, I’m asking you to become a founding donor as we reach a turning point in this election. Will you split a $3 donation between me and Senator Hassan right now to help us build the campaign we need to flip this seat and expand the Senate majority for Democrats?

I grew up just outside of Youngstown and watched my family and neighbors lose their livelihoods when their jobs shipped overseas. So now I’m running for Senate to ensure that families like mine get the support they need.

Ohioans are working harder than ever but still can’t get ahead. I don’t care what your job is – if you’re out there busting your rear end, you should have a little breathing room. You should have time for the things that make life worth living, like Saturday football games and Sunday family dinners.

Washington Republicans are doing nothing but pointing fingers and making backroom deals with their dark money donors as hardworking Ohioans continue to get left behind. It’s time to cut the BS and get shit done.
