For decades, the conscience of Congress has come from Georgia — starting with my friend and hero, John Lewis. Lucy McBath’s clear voice for social justice and gun safety reforms calls forth the same moral courage that John’s voice did for civil rights.

Like John, Lucy courageously turned her personal trauma into social progress. She, too, challenges both Congress and our whole nation to build a better, fairer, and safer world. She, too, can help lead us there — but only if we all do our part to help her win the primary on May 24th and keep her spot in Congress.

Lucy was the first Democrat in decades to flip a Congressional District in Georgia — and she flipped the same seat once held by Newt Gingrich. Then, because Republicans couldn’t beat her at the ballot box, they decided to eliminate her old seat with redistricting – forcing her into this must-win primary.

I won’t mince words here: You’ve gotten Lucy this far, but unless you continue pitching in through the primary, there’s a good chance we lose Lucy’s representation in Congress.
