Welcome to Thursday, May 5th, amigues y colegas...

SCOTUS has confirmed the authenticity of the leaked opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade.

According to a report by Politico on Monday, a leaked draft of a Supreme Court majority opinion authored by Justice Samuel Alito indicates the Court may be prepared to overturn longstanding abortion precedents under Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey and return the issue to the states when the Court decides a pending case regarding Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban.

On Tuesday morning, the Supreme Court issued a press release stating, “Although the document described in yesterday’s reports is authentic, it does not represent a decision by the Court or the final position of any member on the issues in the case.”

How do you feel about the draft opinion?

And, In The End...

It's Cinco De Mayo—which is not Mexican Independence Day (that's September 16).

Cinco de Mayo commemorates the anniversary of Mexico’s victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, after a year of conflict between the two countries.

The day has been celebrated in the U.S. among Mexican-Americans since 1863, but picked up traction during the Chicano Movement of the 1960s and 1970s, and became commercialized in the 1990s.

Feliz Cinco de Mayo.
