JOIN THE jOURNEY |
Dear John,
As you know, the American Immigration Council and New American Economy officially merged earlier this year. The challenges facing our movement are great, and this move has broadened our range of tools and strategies and increased our capacity to empower newcomers at every step in their journey—from arrival to belonging.
As we continue this journey together, we want to take a moment to introduce our areas of work—and show how the scope and strength of the organization has grown since joining forces. We can now employ multiple strategies—litigation, policy advocacy, research, cultural exchange, data analysis, and storytelling—in the name of creating a nation where everyone is afforded the same dignity and opportunity. Over the coming months, we will continue to share new developments, synergies, and programming with you.
We hope you will continue to join us on this new journey.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Robbins
Executive Director, American Immigration Council

Research
The Council’s new Research team seeks to make immigration data more available and accessible to audiences across the country – from journalists to policymakers to advocates. Using statistical analysis, data science, and data visualization techniques, the Council can now use a range of quantitative and qualitative approaches to shed greater light on immigrants and the U.S. immigration system. |

Policy

The Policy Department works to help ensure that immigrants are treated fairly, and that America remains a welcoming place for all, through independent research, communications, and direct advocacy with Congress and administrative agencies. Our work brings facts to the immigration debate and provides critical thought leadership to educate the public and decisionmakers about immigration law and policy. |

Immigration Justice Campaign
The Immigration Justice Campaign fights for a U.S. without immigration detention. Our broad network of over 15,000 volunteers, advocates, and supporters provides pro bono counsel for people inside and outside of detention, and advocates to replace the punitive detention system with proven civil society solutions that offer a humane approach. |

Transparency
The Council’s Transparency team uses the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), impact litigation and advocacy to compel immigration agencies to disclose information about immigration benefits, access to counsel, trends in enforcement, court policies and procedures, and abuses in immigration detention. We issue groundbreaking reports with this information and fight for system change to achieve a more transparent and just immigration system. |

Storytelling

The Council’s new Storytelling team is a resource for anyone who cares deeply about immigration and wants to tell their story in the media. Our mission is to help a diverse spectrum of voices participate publicly in this important conversation through personal essays, op-eds and letters to the editor. Since 2016, we have helped nearly 600 people publish their work in major national news outlets, flagship state and city publications and local community papers. |
