Honor and Help Moms like Tetyana from Ukraine

Dear Friend,

I met Tetyana and her son at a hospital in Poland that's been supported by Project HOPE has a long for over 40 years. Tetyana and Arkady, age 8, had just fled Kyiv, Ukraine where her son had been getting treatment for his kidney cancer. They slept in the car as they traveled and could only bring along a few personal belongings.

Tetyana didn't want to leave her home but felt she had no choice. The hospital where Arkady was receiving care in Ukraine was under attack. Her precious boy's health and life were at stake: "If you stop, the cancer starts spreading again. You can't stop," she said.

When Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 23, I was deployed to Poland to help. Just as we have been supporting children there since the 70s, today we are providing urgently needed medical supplies, medicines and other aid to help refugees like young Arkady. Moms like Tetyana in Ukraine and around the world are doing everything they can to protect their children. They're strong and resilient, but they need our help to stay safe and healthy.

That's why I am asking you to make a gift in honor of Mother's Day right now when it will be MATCHED for 2X the lifesaving impact. Can you help us raise $10,000 by Mother's Day to honor mothers and caregivers worldwide?

"Since the end of 2019, our family has started our fight for our son's life," Tetyana explained. After the terrible stress of hiding in shelters and fleeing bombings, she's grateful that her son is receiving the care he urgently needs.

Project HOPE emergency response teams are at work in Ukraine and across the region providing critical medicines, supplies and mental health care to traumatized mothers and children, many forced to leave family members behind. And in places like Haiti, Ethiopia and Indonesia, we're helping rebuild health care after disasters, as well as helping mothers, children and newborns survive and thrive.

Kind people like you are saving lives now and for the future -- so please make your best gift today when we can double your generosity and impact. Moms like Tetyana who have given everything to care for their sick children will be so grateful for your help.

Let Tetyana's words inspire you -- as they have me: "I hope the world has now realized ... it doesn't matter what you're wearing, what religion you have, what hair color or complexion you have. After all, the most significant thing is that we simply live in peace and harmony." Until that day comes, let's help moms like her and their kids get the care they need. Please make your instantly doubled Mother's Day gift right now.

With gratitude,

Vlatko Uzevski
