The security and integrity of Florida’s elections has been a top priority of mine since day one of being elected Governor, John.
Unsolicited ballots, weak voter ID laws, and taking days (even weeks) to count votes does NOT inspire confidence among voters. We made sure this was not the status quo in the Sunshine State.
When COVID hit, we didn’t unconstitutionally change procedures. We followed the law. And in 2020, we didn’t wait to count votes. We counted 99% of them by midnight on Election Day.
There are many facets to election security which is why earlier this year, I signed legislation increasing penalties for ballot harvesting, expanding our ban on "Zuckerbucks," and establishing an election integrity unit in state government to enforce Florida law.
