Dear friend,
It's hard for me to talk about my son Chris without getting sad, but FAMM's work for the EQUAL Act is really important, so here goes.
When Chris was little, he loved having friends over to our place. That suited me just fine, because I was a young mother and I had a lot of energy. I loved to have fun with them — I'd squeeze Chris and his sister and all their friends into my car and we'd head to the beach for the best kind of day.
Chris has been in prison now for more than 20 years, serving a life sentence on two crack cocaine-related charges. He is now 53. That's 20 Mother's Days we've been apart.
This Mother's Day, would you consider donating to FAMM so they can continue the fight for the EQUAL Act? https://secure.everyaction.com/YMcy-amU10mZXj0q6ShGKQ2
This legislation would eliminate the disparity in sentencing for crack and powder cocaine and hopefully help my family. The EQUAL Act has already passed in the House. Now it just needs the Senate votes to take it to the finish line, and FAMM is working so hard to make that happen.
I know that this Mother's Day I will get a beautiful card in the mail from Chris, like I always do, and that will feel great. Hopefully, we'll talk on the phone, and I'll get to hear him call me "Mommy" like he still does. We will pray together and laugh together.
But even better would be real reform to fix an unjust and racist disparity. Would you help my family and thousands of others this Mother's Day by supporting FAMM? https://secure.everyaction.com/YMcy-amU10mZXj0q6ShGKQ2
Thank you, and Happy Mother's Day!
Sincerely,
Yvonne Mosley for FAMM
