Dear John,
My name is Nancy Downes and I’m Sr. Field Representative for Oceana in New England, the largest international organization dedicated to protecting the world’s oceans. Right now, we’re working to protect the Atlantic Coast – including Maine’s more than 3,000 miles of coastline – from the oil industry’s thirst for drilling.
I’m excited to team up with my friends at Maine Conservation Voters for their online Lunch & Learn program tomorrow – Friday, May 6 – from 12-1 PM to share more about the ongoing threat of offshore drilling and how we can permanently protect Maine’s coast.

I’ve been advocating for the ecological health of our ocean and the economic health of our coastal communities for more than two decades. Offshore drilling is dangerous, dirty, and downright counter to how we secure our nation’s energy independence and tackle climate change. Right now, we have an opportunity to end offshore drilling for good, and I can’t wait to tell you about it.
I hope to see you online tomorrow!
Best,
Nancy
