Friends -
I am — like you — am one of hundreds of millions Americans outraged at the Supreme Court’s apparent decision to rollback the constitutional right to abortion.
At a time when countries around the world are expanding freedoms and rights, the United States is about to erase a constitutionally protected right.
Well, we are not going to be defeated. Certainly not here in the state of California.
And while it is well-established in statutes that we are a reproductive freedom state, we are going to enshrine that into our state constitution — something we’ll be presenting to voters this November.
I want to know that this constitutional amendment can count on your support:
Let me remind you of something else — of how important this is.
We are not some small, isolated state.
We are the richest state in the United States; we are the most populous state in the United States, and we are the most diverse state.
This is a state where we estimate that 8.6 million people are of reproductive age.
So we are not going to roll over here.
We have been preparing for this moment.
And I’ll add, when people come for care in California, we’re going to take care of them. Period.
As state’s restrict rights, California will do our best to fill the gaps.
And this November, we’re going to put it on the ballot.
Are you in?
