What’s the MOMibuster, you may ask? We are very glad to tell you.

Mother’s Day is coming up, and we are going BIG on our special day to demand change – and we need your help to turbo-power our impact. We’re turning the tables on Congress and filibustering them with the first ever MOMibuster. This powerful multi-hour online event will feature 2- to 3-minute videos from moms, parents, caregivers, care workers, and leaders all over the country, one after the other sharing their situations and the policies they need, and driving home the message: Care. Can’t. Wait.

As recent events have starkly illustrated, we absolutely need elected leaders to prioritize the rights and needs of women, mothers, and families now. We’re calling on Congress to build a care infrastructure, including: childcare and pre-K, the monthly Child Tax Credit, home- and community-based services for the elderly and people with disabilities, maternal health equity policies and full access to quality maternal healthcare for everyone, paid family and medical leave, and more! 

Tell Congress to get moving on what  moms and caregivers REALLY want and need for Mother’s Day! Sign the MOMibuster petition now to help build buzz for the MOMibuster and, importantly, also to build momentum for change. 

Starting at noon ET / 9am PT on Saturday, May 7, the day before Mother’s Day, the MOMibuster will be a powerful online event that will hold space on Facebook and other social media all through the day, calling on elected leaders to build a care infrastructure. You can tune into the MOMibuster for 8 seconds or 8 hours – whatever amount of time works for YOU!

(To have an even more powerful impact, the MOMibuster will also be aired on rolling billboards around the U.S. Capitol for the Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday of Mother’s Day weekend so no member of Congress can ignore them, and be referenced in a NY Times ad the Friday before Mother’s Day. We’ll also be delivering book of MomsRising member stories to every member of Congress along with a paper flower bouquet on the Tuesday after Mother’s Day and mailing them enamel pins. One thing is clear: Through all our efforts, our stories and voices will be heard – and we are a powerful force together!)

More than two years into the pandemic, moms, parents, care workers, and caregivers are exhausted. This Mother’s Day, we don’t want flowers, cards, or empty good wishes.
